49ers May Release Garcia On Election Day

Perhaps trying to soften the blow, the 49ers delayed a decision on Jeff Garcia until tomorrow. The word is that he will be released. His salary (over $9 million) and his recent DUI may have sealed his fate.

I would bet the 49ers have already made the decision to release Garcia, but are hoping the news gets lost on election day. It is another example of what a tight-wad, penny pinching organization the 49ers have become. I'm not saying that Garcia is the long-term answer for this team, but when healthy, he is still a pro bowl caliber quarterback.

Garcia may be set to follow Jerry Rice and join the Oakland Raiders. With his DUI, he'd fit right in.
