We're baaaack...
Well, almost. Just 26 (yikes!) days till kickoff of the new NawFuL season, and we're feverishly thinking about feverishly working on the Gehlke Bros. website. More details to come...
But in the meantime, this being my first football-related post in many gNA$hCAR-filled months, I'd like to extend my own congratulations to John Elway and Barry Sanders on their induction into the Hall of Fame tomorrow. You know you're getting old when the sports heros of your youth have retired and begin earning their well-deserved accolades. I can't say I was ever a big Broncos fan, but watching Elway in action made every game exciting. He was one of those rare players who, given the ball and an impossible clock to work with, always made you believe that a last-second miracle was possible. The fact that he went out on a high note as a Stupor Bore champion just makes his achievements shine that much more brightly.
As for Sanders, the Detroit Lyin's haven't been the same since he walked away from the game. But then, the Lyin's have never been much of a factor. He took a NawFuL team and turned it into a merely mediocre one. Wonder what he could have done with a dynasty like the Niners or the Cowboys?
